Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin, Russian illustrator of the early twentieth century, known to have mixed elements of Art Nouveau (borrowed from the famous Japanese prints), with themes ranging from traditional Slavic icons, architecture and the decorative motifs fabrics. He has had a significant influence on the Soviet school of animation.
These are the data in its brief, but my passion for Bilibin comes from another of my passion for Russia and Eastern Europe in general. A culture close to us but we know little, and indeed even the Byzantine culture and the Saracen, although they have left traces in our country strong, maybe we neglect to devote to the Celts and Vikings.
Bilibin In my mind then is added to the image of Sadko, a Soviet film award at Cannes for boys, which to me is a must of the fantastic, together with the works of Ray Harryhausen. I recommend everyone to look for a few clips on YouTube.
