Fourth Edition of the selection for young artists linked to the Emilia Romagna Festival Komikazen.
grabs the publication of a comic book by the publisher's Catch-22: the last edition, in addition to the project turned into a book, 12 authors were selected. In fact, besides the production of a book, there will be an exhibit that will house the works sent the most interesting
exhibition space in Via D'Azeglio 2 to Ravenna.
The inauguration is scheduled for October 8, 2010.
1. Object and purpose of the selection
The selection aims to identify the best talent in this region in the comics, create an exhibition and publication of a comic book of the winner of the competition. The selection is curated by Associazione Mirada in collaboration with the City of Ravenna, the participants will work on a specific topic on which a person will develop tables 4 and send the cartoon (ie the first tablets of history, which, if awarded, will become a book).
The contest theme is "telling the reality in comics." You can tell micro or news stories, the important element of the competition is that there is still a background of reality. The story may be contemporary or set in the past.
The technique is free.
The subject may be wider than the script actually sent: that the 4 tavole inviate possono essere parte di una storia più lunga. Difatti i vincitori vedranno la propria storia pubblicata in una edizione apposita. Ciascuna storia non potrà superare nella versione definitiva le 40 pagine.
La stampa è prevista in b/n. Il soggetto è la narrazione sintetica della storia che sarà sviluppata nella sceneggiatura: nel soggetto va indicato anche come la storia sarà raccontata.
2. Partecipazione al concorso
Possono partecipare tutti i giovani nati dopo il 1 gennaio 1975, che vivono, lavorano o studiano nella Regione Emilia Romagna. Possono partecipare anche those who have studied in the region, but are no longer residents.
3. Characteristics of the material and documents required
Applicants must submit:
- the registration form filled out in the Annex in its entirety
- the subject and four original drawings of the comic
- a curriculum vitae
- photocopy of identity
- photocopies of any printed material or other publications can be attached, but are not mandatory.
4. Terms and conditions of participation
I candidati dovranno presentare o spedire i materiali indicati alla sede di Associazione Mirada (via Mazzini 83 – 48100 Ravenna): nel caso di presentazione a mano si prega di verificare l’orario di apertura. Oppure presso l’Ufficio GAI della propria città, entro e non oltre le ore 13 di sabato 4
settembre 2010. In caso di spedizione fa fede il timbro postale.
5. Selezioni
Un’apposita commissione, alla quale parteciperà anche l’editore della pubblicazione oltre ad esperti di settore, selezionerà tra i candidati, gli autori ritenuti pi originali e qualitativamente valid for:
- participate in the exhibition that will inaugurate the Regional October 8, 2010 at the venue by the Directorate of Youth (selected categories and winners). Selected authors will participate in workshops held by the authors free of charge to guests of the festival

This will take account of the artistic quality of the work, the originality of the story, journalistic skills of the story / subject. Participation may be individual or group (as a writer + a designer).
The jury's decision is final. All candidates will be notified by letter and the outcome of the selection will be sent an invitation to the exhibition.
6. Awards
Selected authors will be able to demonstrate to an audience their work through the exhibition of their works on display. Will also be able to participate directly in an international event of comics as "Komikazen" and a closer international authors and publishers. The winners will also be rewarded with the publication of the entire history of selected, which will be combined with a critical presentation of text.
I selected and the winners will also participate in free workshops at the international festival of reality comics "Komikazen" (please note that in the past were held by authors such as Joe Sacco, Marjane Satrapi, Aleksandar Zograf, Peter Kuper ...)
7. Responsibility
Candidates are guarantors of the originality of their work and participating in the initiative, implicitly accept the rules of this contract and authorize the Association Mirada Gaer and the processing of personal data under the D. 196/2003.
